| Long-line
|
 |
| Long-line could
be described as a chain of fish-hooks connected with basic
nylon string. Fishing is held without presence of a man.
After the long-line is dipped into the sea, it is being
left for some time in the sea as to allow fish to be caught
to the hooks with baits. Although there are many different
types of long-lines, three of them are basic: near-the-sea-floor,
floating and surface long-line. Different baits are placed
on the hooks of the long-line. These can be little fish
(pilchard, sand smelt, smelt, bogue, picarel, gilthead,
anchovy etc), pieces of big sea-worm, sea cucumber meat,
pieces of cephalopoda, special pastels, and other available
baits. It is best to put the long-line in the sea just before
dawn and to leave it lying two to three hours. However,
it can be laid down in the evening and left during the night,
while taken out in the morning.
